Right smack, dab in the armpit of America, otherwise known as Appalachia, Famous Fotografy has raged against a lack of understanding, acceptance and resources to bring his visions and observations into this world in the form of nude art, which they refer to as Hillbilly Chic. “Our involvement with nude photography over the past 22 years has caused us to experience incredible persecution in a community that has historically exhibited signs of being sexually repressive. Despite the ignorant attacks and slander of others we refuse to let them muzzle our creativity.” Shelton began shooting nude models in 1996 and has done so in the most unusual of ways, without the use of talent agencies or fancy equipment, embracing a DIY attitude and his own resourcefulness to cultivate models, wardrobe, props, settings and anything else necessary to create images that are unique, provocative and entertaining.
